WHAT DO FRIARS DO?

A CAPUCHIN FRANCISCAN FRIAR CAN BE EITHER A BROTHER WHO IS NOT A PRIEST, OR ONE WHO IS. Our first responsibility is to be a good brother to our Franciscan ohana. From that fraternal life, each of us works for the lord and for his church.

In Hawaii, we are parish priests, either pastors or associates, or we assist other pastors in their parishes. In our vice-province, which includes Guam, we are also teachers, we minister to marriage tribunal, we organize and develop ministries to youth, we assist young men thinking of joining our fraternity, we preach retreats, and we chaplain for the military.

Fr. Mike Dalton, O.F.M. Cap
Pastor, St. Elizabeth, Aiea
